Anytown General Hospital has begun construction of its new Bariatric Surgery Center. The center, which is scheduled to open early next year, will be a 5,000 square foot facility on the hospital campus that will specialize in the care of morbidly obese people.
In addition to providing pre-surgical counseling and surgery itself, the clinic will also offer a variety of post-surgery services to help ensure that patients keep off the weight they lose after surgery.
"The new surgery center will provide the complete spectrum of care for people who need bariatric surgery," said Jeslyn Isley, MD, a bariatric surgeon who will work at the center. "Our staff will help patients determine if surgery is the right choice for them, help them through the surgery process and work with them in the weeks and months after surgery to help them make the lifestyle changes necessary to keep weight off."
The center will feature surgical suites with the latest technology, along with an exercise facility where patients can come and exercise after surgery. Nutrition counselors will also be on staff to help people learn to adapt to life after surgery.
